"Excuse me, I would like to die in a fiery wreck, please."
"Absolutely sir, here is a 400+ hp Cobra.

![]() 02/12/2015 at 11:23 |

![]() 02/12/2015 at 11:23 |

That just doesn't look right.
![]() 02/12/2015 at 11:26 |

lol the original 427 V8's had more than 400.
![]() 02/12/2015 at 11:27 |

As long as it's a Replica Kit Cobra I am 100% behind this.

But it was Caroll Shelby's original choice (the Small Block Chevy that is), GM declined because they kind of already had a sports car, so he went to ford and well the rest is history. A Chevy Cobra isn't really a 'blasphemous' idea if you know about how the Cobra came to be.

It more then likely is.
![]() 02/12/2015 at 11:31 |

Then good for him for doing something different. Cool car.

It's not any more. he may have asked Chevy but Ford is the ones who said yes and that's all that reall matters. I would also be fine with a Viper V10 under here as well.Cause Shelby designed the Viper.

Hmmm, a 5.0 Ford Mod weighs about 201kg + ancilliaries (lets say 215kg). The 289 Cobra weighted in at 951kg, and the 289 engine itself was 230kg. So, as a rough estimate I'd say that there'd be only a marginal change in weight when you factor in beefier gearbox, bigger wheels and brakes etc.
So you'd be looking at 412bhp and ~950kg. That's a power-to-weight ratio of 434bhp/ton. Other cars around that ballpark are the One-77, Murcielago LP670, C6 Z06 and Zonda S.
Jesus christ.

I wanna get a '69 Torino GT make into a Talladega Clone and put a BOSS 302 Coyote under hte hood.
![]() 02/12/2015 at 11:33 |
|
We gonna need a bigger roll-cage.
![]() 02/12/2015 at 11:38 |
|
As long as you're making a clone I'm all for it
![]() 02/12/2015 at 11:43 |
|
Like I would do that to a real Talladega?
![]() 02/12/2015 at 11:45 |
|
Thank god you wouldn't.
Then again I was watching the new Fat and Furious show where the fat mechanics hop up old cars and some jackass was making them rip out a numbers matching full resto'd/survivor 69 Boss 302 to put in a crate motor.
Why? He wanted to beat his son at the track. His son drives a "daddy bought me special" 2012 boss 302. If you didn't want your 69 302 to be beat by your son, don't buy him a faster car and then RUIN YOURS
![]() 02/12/2015 at 11:49 |
|
Well it might be a BOSS clone and they just said it was a real one,
![]() 02/12/2015 at 11:50 |

1 cam, distributor in the front, carbed.
Closer to the real thing than that 5.0 thingy.
![]() 02/12/2015 at 11:52 |

Na it's a kit car. Power to weight is greater.
![]() 02/12/2015 at 11:54 |

They actually called him out on the show.
"Why are you doing this to a beautiful numbers matching BOSS"
They tagged and bagged every nut and bolt that came off it so he could make it original again one day if he wanted. Such a shame.
The one guy was like "oh it's a father son rivalry? Alright lets do it"
Other guy on the show - "no, I don't care you just don't do this"
![]() 02/12/2015 at 12:00 |
|
WTF fuck that guy then.
![]() 02/12/2015 at 12:04 |
|
And he was paying 25 grand to fuck up a perfect boss 302
IT. WAS. PERFECT.
Seriously if you have all this cash around, just go buy another car to make a track car.
![]() 02/12/2015 at 12:04 |
|
wow what a fuck head.
![]() 02/12/2015 at 12:06 |

Sorry I'm still really angry about this.
How to do you buy your kid a 2012 BOSS 302 and expect your 69 to win at the track?
Coulda bought him a 2012 GT and won at the track
![]() 02/12/2015 at 12:09 |
|
Yeah, something like 425.
![]() 02/12/2015 at 12:10 |
|
Which there's a good chance it was "425" because insurance.
![]() 02/12/2015 at 13:22 |

Probably not. I found a few other sources saying 410 and two saying 425, so it was probably around that.
